• Do I have to pay anything?

No. Every service we offer is free — the classes, the screenings, the help finding care and the person who goes with you to your appointment.

If anyone ever asks you to pay Octavia Health for a service, it is not us. Call us at +1 (561) 729-4870 and tell us.

  • Do I need health insurance?

No. Our services are for people with little or no insurance, and you do not need any to be attended.

We also help people who do have insurance and cannot get through the system.

  • Do I need papers or immigration status?

We do not ask about your immigration status, and it does not change how we attend you.

Some programs are run by other organizations that may have their own requirements. If that happens we will tell you before you go, so nobody is surprised at the door.

  • What languages do you speak?

English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. This entire website is in the three of them, and someone answers the phone in all three.

  • Where do you provide services?

We are authorized to serve across the United States, and much of what we do — health education, guidance, help finding care — works wherever you are.

Screenings are tied to a place because the clinics that run them are. The no-cost mammogram and the cervical cancer screening, for example, require living in Florida — but the classes that go with them are open to anyone, anywhere we work. Each program page says what it requires.

  • What is a Community Navigator?

Someone who walks the health system with you instead of leaving you a phone number.

They find care near your ZIP code, book your appointments, come with you if you need someone beside you, and help you look for financial support.

  • Can you diagnose me or give me a treatment?

No. We are not a medical practice: we do not diagnose, we do not treat and we do not prescribe.

What we do is help you understand your condition, connect you with a provider who can treat you, and stay with you through the process.

If you have symptoms that worry you, call your doctor. If it is an emergency, call 911.

  • How long until someone contacts me?

We call as soon as we can. If it is urgent, do not wait for the callback — call us at +1 (561) 729-4870 and tell us it is urgent.

We answer the phone Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

  • What happens with the information I send you?

It goes to our team so we can call you back, and to nobody else. We do not sell it and we do not share it for advertising.

We keep it for a maximum of 180 days and then it is deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.

The full detail is in our privacy policy and our notice of privacy practices.

  • Will my photo appear on the website?

Only if you signed a release at the event. Saying no changes nothing about how you are attended.

If you signed one and changed your mind, call or write to us and we will take the photo down. You do not have to explain why.

  • How can I volunteer?

Through POINT, a free volunteering app where we post every opportunity. Create an account, follow Octavia Health, and you will see each event as we schedule it.

The volunteer page on this site has the direct link.

  • I am a community health worker. Can you help me?

Yes. We offer training, workshops, preparation for state certification and one-on-one consultation.

The CHW page has the form to tell us what you need.

These answers are general information. They are not medical advice, and they do not replace talking to a professional. In an emergency, call 911.
